Our client is a construction powerhouse and is one of the most recognisable names in construction. Their in-house professional skills include construction management, design and construct, project management and also development and they are delivering amazing things to Brisbane. They have an extremely stable management team and they are enjoying measured success with steady growth leading to more and more internal opportunities.
They are currently looking to appoint a Cost Planner to work on their most recently secured development site which will be home to a $40m high rise residential development.
To be successful within this position you will need to have the following skill set:
- A bachelor degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (or equivalent)
- Experience working with a recognisable construction company or consultancy
- Understanding of construction contracts, design and the resultant cost implications
- Ability to communicate, influence and build effective relationships at all levels of the external and internal business environment
- Interpret project briefs and new business expression of interests
- Prepare construction cost plans during initial phases of project development. Cost plans will vary from an area feasibility to a detailed elemental cost plan with varying levels of trade coverage
- Design development and cost optimisation
- Value management
- Advise on construction risk during initial phases of project development
- Set guidelines/briefs for cost plans
- Finalisation of cost plan to a BOQ
- Attend design meetings and provide cost advice.
- Set up trade budgets
- Assist the Project Manager and Commercial Manager in subcontractor and consultant management
- Assist the Project Manager and Commercial Manager in matching the subcontractor scopes of work to the project budgets
