**Seeking an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person with lived experience of social and emotional wellbeing concerns and recovery. Qualification not essential to start but we will support you to obtain a Certificate IV.**

**The Role**

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Youth Support Worker - Lived Experience will provide culturally-safe peer work support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people with mild-to-moderate social and emotional wellbeing concerns and their family and friends. This will involve the Youth and Family Support Worker safely sharing their own recovery journey with others, offering hope and practical strategies for social and emotional wellbeing recovery from the vantage point of experiential understanding.

**What you need to bring**
- Due to the nature of this role, we are seeking an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person with a lived experience of social and emotional wellbeing concerns and recovery
- Must have or be willing to undertake within 18 months of commencing a minimum qualification of Certificate IV in Peer Work, Mental Health, or Youth Work (financially supported by Centacare)
- Valid Department of Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check. (previously known as 'Child-Related Employment Screening Clearance')
- Valid Driver's licence
- Ability to do some out of work hours when required

**Desirable**
- Holds or working towards a Certificate IV in Mental Health, Youth Work or Community Services
- Experience in the community services sector and/or not-for-profit sector

- We work under guidance of the Aboriginal Leadership Committee and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Worker Support Policy
- Support you to respond to family and community obligations within work time
- Provide opportunity for cultural supervision with the Aboriginal Services Manager
- Support you to engage in education and training
- Support you with Sorry Business and Funeral Leave
- Extra paid day off on the Friday of NAIDOC week to attend NAIDOC events
