About the role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Thrift Shop Manager to oversee and lead the operations of the shop by ensuring quality customer service, diligence in cash handling and banking, quality sorting of donated goods, pricing and maintaining the general appearance and upkeep of the shop. You will be responsible for fostering a culture of inclusiveness and community spirit amongst the volunteer team, which will enhance the customer experience of the store.
As the Manager you will be the conduit between store operations and Corps, keeping both the Thrift Shop team and Corps Officers informed of all activity in the store. You will be responsible for the direct supervision of all volunteers and the Assistant Manager at the Shop.
You will successfully
- Delegate responsibility for collecting items to volunteers or manage collections during working hours and ensure these are completed in a timely manner
- Implement stock and mannequin rotation as well as stock management processes to ensure optimal store stock levels are maintained to maximise sales and revenue
- Ensure shop is presentable and always inviting through appropriate measures i.e., stock is displayed in accordance with Thrift Shop guidelines and clear in-store signage
- Manage store financial processes including completion of daily cash reconciliation, preparation of cash floats and banking, minimisation of stock losses and cash handling procedures are followed
- Ensure the recruitment, maintenance, and direction of volunteers, employees, Assistant Managers and/or Day Supervisors to ensure the store runs efficiently
- Administration of all levels of compliance and training of volunteers in the workplace
This is a permanent full time position, Monday to Friday, located on Alma Street, Maryborough. Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Retail Industry Award 2010, Level 6.
You will have
- Demonstrated relevant retail industry experience as a store manager
- Experience in managing and leading effective teams
- Certificate in Retail or Business (desirable)
- Demonstrated skills and experience in cash handling, financial management and store operations (highly desirable)
- Completed or willingness to complete First Aid (PFA) training
- Prior experience in a charitable recycling retail operation (desirable)
- A current Victorian Drivers Licence
- Be able to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
- A National Police Record Check is required
- Physical ability to safely sit, stand, walk regularly and for long periods of time
- Physical ability to push, pull, lift, carry items up to 10 kilos in weight
- Physical ability to climb ladders
