About the role
North Queensland Bulk Ports (NQBP) are seeking a dedicated and proactive Health and Safety Advisor to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Safety, this role is responsible for leading and influencing NQBP to drive the development and implementation of Health and Safety systems and initiatives to minimise risk of harm.
As a Health and Safety Advisor, you will play a key role in promoting a positive safety culture and providing subject matter expert advice. The Health and Safety Advisor will work with all organisational business units to ensure legislative compliance (Safety Management System) and drive an operational safety focus.
You will stand out with your ability to relate to a diverse group of people whilst leading by example and demonstrating the importance of maintaining a strong safety culture.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Health and Safety related Degree qualification (or studying towards, or ability to obtain), or appropriate equivalent skill standard gained through structured training, or demonstrated competency.
* Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment & Training (or ability to obtain).
* Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator certificate (desirable).
* Senior First Aid certificate.
* Demonstrated knowledge of H&S standards and legislation applicable to the industry.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* High level skills in the use of Microsoft office suite.
* 5+ years' experience in health and safety or operational roles.
* Knowledge of auditing processes.
* Ability to work unsupervised, to organise workload, meet deadlines and prioritise work as necessary.
* ICAM Investigation qualification and experience.
* The applicant will be required to hold a current Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) or the ability to obtain a MSIC within three months of commencing employment.
