A bit about the role
You will lead strategic planning and delivery of diverse civic and community events, ensuring they are inclusive, safe, and high quality.
Oversee management of key community venues, fostering welcoming, flexible spaces that support connection and diverse community use.
What you'll deliver
* Develop and implement community and civic event initiatives aligned with Council priorities, ensuring consistency, effectiveness, and strategic impact.
* Provide expert advice and support to Council, departments, and community organisers on event planning, compliance, and risk management.
* Foster partnerships to enhance event delivery, while maintaining availability for evening and weekend work.
* Translate strategic objectives into operational outcomes, ensuring facilities and events are accessible, forward-thinking, and aligned with community needs and Council plans.
* Manage facilities and emergency operations, including capital works, leases, licences, and relief/recovery centres.
* Provide leadership and coaching, setting clear expectations, monitoring performance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
* Collaborate across departments, contributing to strategic planning and ensuring effective communication and alignment.
* Oversee financial and business planning, including budgeting, reporting, and tracking key performance indicators for the Events and Attractions team.
What you'll bring
* Substantial experience in event management and operation of community facilities or another related field
* Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, train, and motivate staff within a dynamic and evolving environment.
* Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check
* A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
