Position Objective
The Upper Strings Violin Music Tutor is responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging and developmentally appropriate violin instruction to students within the Upper Strings program. The role aims to foster technical proficiency, musical expression and a lifelong appreciation of music while supporting students' participation in ensembles and performance opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality one-on-one and small group violin lessons to students of varying ages and abilities
* Design engaging and personalised lesson plans tailored to each student's individual goals and learning style
* Prepare students for performances, concerts, ensemble participation, and Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) examinations
* Monitor student progress and provide clear, constructive feedback
* Maintain accurate attendance records and lesson documentation (including use of school systems)
* Collaborate with parents, classroom teachers, the Director of Music, and fellow String Tutors to support student development
* Contribute positively to the growth and direction of the Strings Program
* Prepare students for performances, concerts and related events
* Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages participation, collaboration and personal growth
* Attend to other matters appropriate to the position, consistent with the skills of the incumbent as directed by the Director of Music
Selection Criteria
Essential
* Strong violin performance skills with a sound understanding of music theory and technique
* Demonstrated experience teaching violin across a range of age groups and ability levels
* Skilled and enthusiastic educator with a genuine passion for music education and nurturing young musicians
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* A flexible, organised, and proactive approach
* Ability to work in a team environment
Desirable
* Hold a degree and/or a postgraduate qualification in music, performance, or music education, or significant relevant professional experience
Appointment Conditions
The employee must have the following:
* Working with Children Clearance (WWCC) 'Ochre Card' - employment is conditional on compliance with the Care and Protection of Children Act (NT) 2007, as amended, and the accompanying regulations
* National Police Clearance, maintained for the duration of employment
This job description is intended as a framework for performance review conducted by the Director of Music who reserves the right to amend roles, responsibilities, and requirements as necessary to meet the operational needs of the school.
Your performance and remuneration package will be reviewed at three months and again at six months following commencement. These reviews may or may not result in a salary adjustment, at the discretion of the Principal.
Superannuation Guarantee contributions at the current rate of 12% will be paid by the school in addition to salary.
