This pivotal role is responsible for optimising site performance to ensure the safe, reliable, and cost-effective generation of electricity. About the RoleAs a key member of the Callide Senior Leadership Team, the Manager Operations will drive performance across multiple disciplines, including operations, coal logistics, process chemistry, and waste management. This role is instrumental in aligning operational activities with CS Energy's strategic objectives, regulatory requirements, and generation targets.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead the Operations and Performance teams to achieve generation targets through enhanced plant reliability and continuous improvement.Ensure alignment with the Joint Venture partner operating Callide C Power Station and maintain transparent engagement with external shareholders.Monitor and report on key operational metrics, identifying and implementing corrective actions.Champion operational excellence by maximising unit output, minimising availability losses, and reducing downtime.Oversee coal supply logistics, ensuring consistent delivery and strong vendor relationships to support fuel security and plant performance.Provide governance oversight for the Waste Containment Facility (WCF), ensuring compliance with ANCOLD guidelines and CS Energy governance frameworks.Support the Chemistry Team in executing process-related activities that enhance plant reliability and compliance.Collaborate with fellow senior leaders to drive integrated decision-making and resource optimisation.Foster a high-performance culture focused on safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
This is a full time, permanent position at Callide Power Station.
ABOUT YOUWhat We're Looking ForProven leadership experience in power generation or heavy industry operations.Strong strategic thinking and stakeholder engagement skills.Expertise in operational performance, logistics, and compliance.Commitment to safety, innovation, and team development.Tertiary qualifications in a a relevant discipline would be advantageous.Minimum 10 years relevant experience in production, mining or maintenance, preferably within a heavy industrial/mining environments.Power station operations and thermal processes experience would be advantageous.Experience with ash/tailings dams and coal supply is advantageous.Experience and demonstrated success in a key leadership role.Demonstrated knowledge of complex infrastructure and process systems.Demonstrated ability of leading teams to deliver on required HSE, Cost and Production outcomes.Leadership behaviours that support a constructive culture.Experience in using SAP or other business processes/tools to enable delivery of effective reporting on key section deliverables.
