Synechron is seeking a highly experienced
Senior Data Engineer
with strong expertise in
Ab Initio
,
Unix/Linux
, and enterprise-scale
ETL/data integration
to support a critical data transformation program for a Big 4 banking client in Sydney. This role involves hands-on development, mentoring, and leading technical troubleshooting for complex data pipelines and batch processes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL pipelines using
Ab Initio
and other data integration tools.
* Apply strong
Unix/Linux scripting
skills to support data workflows and automation.
* Demonstrate expertise in
coding, debugging, and performance tuning
of large-scale data solutions.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, production-ready software with comprehensive test coverage.
* Provide
technical mentorship
and guidance to junior team members.
* Promote and implement
industry best practices
in data engineering and software development.
* Estimate development effort for new features and enhancements.
* Lead
Level 3+ support
and drive resolution of complex production issues and root cause analysis.
Required Skills & Experience:
* 5+ years
of hands-on experience in
data engineering
and
ETL development
.
* Strong proficiency in
Ab Initio
, including GDE, EME, and Co>Operating System.
* Solid experience with
Unix/Linux environments
and shell scripting.
* Proven ability to work independently and deliver high-quality solutions.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Experience in
estimating development efforts
and managing delivery timelines.
* Ability to lead
technical support and troubleshooting
in production environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience in
banking or financial services
domains.
* Familiarity with
data governance
,
data quality
, and
metadata management
.
* Exposure to
cloud-based data platforms
(e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
