JOB SUMMARY:The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting in the various activities of the Pharmacy Services Department of a technical or clerical nature, under the supervision and direction of a pharmacist. These duties will include Chemo preparation and training with the Special Access Facilitator. The Pharmacy Technician is accountable on a daily basis to the pharmacist working in the area assigned. The incumbent is responsible for delivery of care consistent with the vision and values of the hospital and the standards of relevant professional organizations. The Pharmacy Technician complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Standards for the Hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment.QUALIFICATIONS:Previous hospital pharmacy experience – preferredExperience in the preparation of chemotherapy drugs - preferredKnowledge or experience of processing prescriptions involving third part drug plans - preferredKnowledge of hospital and pharmacy policies and proceduresGood reading, writing, mathematics, typing and oral communication skillsAbility to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary health care teamGeneral good health and a level of fitness appropriate to the demands of the positionFrench language skills an assetEDUCATION:Graduate of an Accredited Pharmacy Technician program - preferredRegistration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists - requiredWindsor Regional Hospital is an equal opportunity employer.
