Primary objective
Support Directors and Project Managers in the execution of the project approach and associated plans by capturing and
documenting business improvements, implementation of business systems and/or applications by undertaking the full range of
business analysis tasks by coordinating with the business, project team members, stakeholders, and vendors.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Facilitate workshops, interviews, and focus groups with stakeholders to elicit, analyse and document business including
functional and non-functional requirements, and take accountability for managing requirements traceability and ensuring
alignment with business objectives.
2. Lead the assessment, analysis, design, development, testing, documentation and implementation of solutions to problems and
requests for change in accordance with Departmental approved policies and processes.
3. Determine and document business requirements and processes by working with key stakeholders to deliver improvements in
information systems, information management, practices and procedures
4. Plan and drive scoping, requirement definitions and prioritisation activities for large, complex initiatives, and contribute to the
definition of policies, standards and guidelines for business system improvements.
5. Deliver project management documentation in alignment with the agencies project management frameworks, on time, to
expected quality standards as per scope as agreed with the Project Manager.
6. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrate extensive skills and experience as a Senior Business Analyst, including experience in requirements gathering,
business process analysis/modelling, process mapping and information analysis/modelling, and executing complex initiatives to
time, cost and quality targets.
2. Demonstrate experience managing business requirements and processes to the functionality of a product whilst identifying
gaps and opportunities.
3. Demonstrate experience in end-to-end delivery of application or business systems projects.
4. Demonstrate experience in incident, problem, change, test, and release management processes and related activities.
5. Demonstrate experience in creating and maintaining high-quality technical, support and business documentation.
6. Demonstrate work ethic and attitude which emulates values of being professional, accountable, honest, respectful and
creative.
Desirable
1. Relevant Tertiary, Project Management, IT and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) qualifications or
certifications.
2. Relevant knowledge and experience in the disciplines of health, child protection, youth justice, housing services or education.
3. Competency at the Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA) level 5.
