Remuneration
The salary range is $37.21 – $43.23 per hour. The total salary package includes employer's contribution to superannuation and leave loading.
School
Toukley Public School – a P‐6 primary school with approximately 547 students in 27 classes, including five multi‐categorical classes, a support class for students with mild intellectual disability, and an Intensive Learning Support Class – Mental Health for students with severe, chronic mental health conditions. The school has about 186 Aboriginal students.
About the Role
School Learning Support Officers provide support for students with identified diverse learning needs, including disabilities, in classrooms and other learning environments under the direction and supervision of a teacher. This support includes student welfare, health and wellbeing activities as required. Officers may also provide specific support for students in pre‐school, vision, hearing and bilingual settings, with additional duties where applicable.
Essential Requirements
* Working with Children Check clearance.
* Completion of mandatory training required by the Department of Education and willingness to undertake first‐aid training relevant to the role.
* Training in administration of medications (based on student needs).
* Health support training (based on student needs).
Specific Selection Criteria
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Ability to work with students with emotional, physical or intellectual disabilities.
* Awareness of the needs of students with emotional, physical or intellectual disabilities.
* Effective communication skills.
