Electrical Superintendent Job Summary
The Electrical Superintendent plays a crucial role in supervising and directing operations within the electrical discipline. Key responsibilities include ensuring assigned construction performance follows specifications, is on schedule, and within budget.
Key Accountabilities:
* Lead by example, promoting a strong safety culture among team members.
* Inspect site conditions, identify potential hazards, and implement corrective actions to prevent accidents.
* Coordinate safety training programs and enforce safe work practices at all times.
* Champion the cause of zero-accident philosophy.
* Verify compliance with Bechtel and local/national safety codes, requirements, and standards within assigned areas of responsibility.
* Monitor craft activities to ensure adherence to specifications and schedules.
* Oversee labor costs, optimize crew productivity, and maintain schedules for labor and equipment.
* Interface with Labor/Industrial Relations for recruitment and training initiatives.
* Review and approve subcontractor equipment/personnel mobilization and demobilization plans.
* Implement corporate project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned electrical operations.
* Coordinate established area operational plans.
* Collaborate with operations teams to perform brownfield work and communicate interface activities effectively.
* Provide input to quantity tracking applications and report weekly installed quantities to Project Controls.
* Prepare material requisitions for tools and consumables, coordinating procurement efforts as necessary.
* Assist in conducting construction testing as required.
* Develop reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecasts.
* Plan manpower and equipment requirements to execute the job, perform employee reviews, and identify training opportunities for subordinate electrical personnel.
Education and Experience Requirements
Candidates should hold a university/B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or 8 years of relevant experience (12-15 years of equivalent industry experience in lieu of a degree). A background on an LNG construction site and experience with large project scheduling are highly desirable.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
* Heavy industrial direct hire construction experience commensurate with the type of work undertaken
* Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
* Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards
Additional Information
Work involves field inspections and requires the ability to walk extensively, climb ladders and scaffolding, work on elevated platforms, and navigate uneven surfaces. The ability to use standard personal protective equipment (PPE) is essential.
