Primary Purpose of the Position
The purpose of this position is to ensure operations are conducted sustainably while effectively achieving objectives in waste management, sustainability, biosecurity, regulatory, and compliance standards.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities
- Develop and implement environmental, sustainability, and waste management strategies, policies, and action plans.
- Manage waste operations including kerbside collection, landfills, recycling, pollution control, and compliance with environmental legislation.
- Oversee waste services contracts, including cost and revenue management.
- Conduct environmental audits, impact assessments, and reporting for stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
- Lead biosecurity programs, weed and pest management, inspections, and statutory reporting under relevant legislation.
- Implement and monitor animal control strategies and companion animal programs.
- Coordinate with regional organisations and agencies on sustainability, biosecurity, and environmental initiatives.
- Drive energy efficiency, emissions reduction, and sustainability initiatives across operations and facilities.
- Research, secure, and manage grants related to waste, sustainability, biosecurity, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure organisational compliance with WHS, legislative requirements, and reporting obligations, including staff training and safety oversight.

Expected working hours are 35 hours per week
Desirable Criteria
- Demonstrated 5 years’ experience in Waste or Environmental Management.
- Demonstrated expertise and experience working alongside and leading multi-disciplinary teams including contractors.
- Major projects experience including inception to delivery with demonstrable outcomes and direct community engagement.
- Demonstrated experience with accountability in the successful delivery of communication as well as experience relating to people at all levels.
- Demonstrated well developed conflict management skills.
Essential Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management or relevant degree.
- Demonstrated ability to competently interpret legislation, guidelines or policy.
- Class C (Standard) Drivers Licence
