The hospital encompasses 185 beds, 6 operating theatres, 10 bed ICU, with associated rehabilitation, medical and surgical Wards. Our services include two major medical centres, a dedicated mental health unit, an on-site cancer centre including radiation oncology, radiology practice and pathology laboratory.

Your new role as Perioperative Clinical Nurse Educator
We are seeking a skilled and innovative perioperative registered nurse to join the hospital's clinical leadership team in the role of Perioperative Clinical Nurse Educator in a permanent part-time capacity (24hrs pw). The Perioperative Clinical Nurse Educator is a hands-on role, responsible for developing, delivering and coordinating the perioperative education programs with a focus on the New Graduate and transition to specialty programs. The Perioperative Nurse Educator will also contribute to the development of perioperative policy and procedures which govern clinical best practice along with assisting the management team in ongoing mandatory education compliance within the facility.
The ideal candidate will promote and role model patient-centred care and perioperative best practice to facilitate the hospital’s strategic plans to sustainability grow and enhance the perioperative workforce. They will have experience and creative ideas in how to support the perioperative team through developing and coordinating opportunities to expand the team’s clinical skills. A key focus will be to ensure a high standard of clinical care that is compliant with the relevant clinical standards and legislation is provided to every patient.
Essential criteria
- Current Working with Children Check and Police Check.
- Current AHPRA Registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1), General
- Minimum 5 years perioperative clinical experience
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications in perioperative nursing
- Demonstrated expert knowledge of perioperative nursing best practice and ACORN Standards
- Demonstrated preceptorship and education experience through a deep understanding of adult teaching and learning principles in the context of perioperative nursing
- Ability to plan, implement and evaluate clinical education programs including the development of nursing competencies and learning packages
- Demonstrated ability to promote, implement and monitor quality improvement principles relating to ACHS clinical standards and nursing education evidence
- A team player with strong collaborative interpersonal skills with well-developed verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated computer skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook
- Immunisation evidence and serology report in accordance with NSW Health.
- Australian permanent resident status or equivalent work rights required.
- Previous clinical education experience
- Previous nursing / healthcare leadership experience
- Cert IV Training and Assessment or working towards
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications in education/teaching or equivalent or working towards same
- Demonstrated experience in the instrument / circulating nurse roles and or anaesthetic and PACU nursing roles
