About the roleWe are seeking a Java Developer to design and deliver scalable, cloud-native data integration solutions as well as maintain and support existing Java applications. The role requires expertise in Java, AWS and knowledge/experience in Talend Cloud, along with the ability to contribute to architecture decisions and lead if required. This role offers hybrid working.Location: Sydney preferred but flexible across Australia
Key ResponsibilitiesPrimary duties include:Deliver and maintain end-to-end Java application with Talend data integration architecture and implementationIntegrate Java and Talend Cloud with AWS services (S3, RDS, Lambda, EC2)Develop and optimize Java-based custom routines and Talend components to solve complex business problemsKnowledge of best practices for cloud security, performance tuning, and cost optimizationMonitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues in Talend CloudImplement CI/CD pipelines for Talend jobs and cloud deployments as well as Java applicationsDefine data quality, governance, and metadata management standardsCollaborate with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into solutionsProvide technical leadership, mentoring, and code reviews
Requirements and Experience Required Skills & Qualifications5+ years of experience in Java with some data integration experienceExperience with AWS cloud servicesAdvanced proficiency in Java (custom routines, performance tuning)Strong SQL skills and experience with relational like Oracle/MySQL and NoSQL databases like MongoDB/RedisExperience with Web Services, REST APIs, SOAP, SaaS integrations, and file-based processingExperience with Apache Kafka and MQ for messagingFamiliarity with Git, Jenkins/GitHub Actions, and DevOps best practicesPreferred SkillsExperience with Talend Data Quality / Talend Data PreparationKnowledge and/or hands-on experience with Talend Cloud (DI, TMC, Remote Engines)Knowledge and/or Experience with Talend Cloud Management Console (TMC), environments, and task orchestrationKnowledge of Talend Cloud API ServicesExperience with container orchestration like KubernetesExperience with Spring Boot / MicroservicesAWS or Talend certificationsDesired skillsProven ability to lead technical initiatives and architecture discussionsStrong communication and stakeholder management skillsAbility to mentor junior and mid-level engineersProactive, solution-oriented mindset
