Woods & Co Recruitment are partnering up with one of Melbourne’s leading Japanese dining destinations to find a talented Sous Chef to support the BOH team in executing the venue’s culinary vision.
This is your chance to work with premium ingredients, from high-grade wagyu to sushi-grade seafood, to deliver exceptional dishes and an authentic Yakiniku experience. You’ll assist the Head Chef in preparing premium dishes, maintaining standards and supporting a seamless kitchen service; all while honing your skills in one of Melbourne’s most exciting Japanese restaurants.

What do you do?
- Assist the Head Chef with daily kitchen operations.
- Prepare and cook premium wagyu, sushi, sashimi and authentic Japanese dishes.
- Support menu execution to ensure consistent quality and presentation.
- Assist with food costing, stock control and supplier relationships.
- Work hands-on with Yakiniku grills and interactive table-top dining.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team and assist in mentoring staff.
What do you need?
- 3+ years experience as a Sous Chef in Japanese venues.
- Solid skills in trimming wagyu and preparing sushi and sashimi to a high standard.
- Experience in supporting menu execution and food cost management.
- Team player with a strong work ethic.
- Passion for premium Japanese cuisine and ability to deliver high-quality dishes.
