Role Purpose
As a Disability Support Worker at Life Is OK Support Services, you will provide personalised, on-site support to people with disabilities, including those with high and complex support needs. Your role is to support participants to live safely, independently, and with dignity, while working towards their individual NDIS goals. You will work closely with participants, families, and the support team to create a safe, respectful, and empowering environment.
Key Responsibilities
Participant Support
1. Support participants with physical, complex, and high-care needs, including mobility assistance, use of equipment, basic health support, and mealtime assistance.
2. Assist with personal care such as toileting, showering, hygiene, grooming, dressing, and daily routines, always respecting privacy and dignity.
3. Help participants with everyday living tasks including meal preparation, shopping, budgeting, cleaning, laundry, and attending appointments.
4. Provide person-centred and culturally appropriate support based on each participant's NDIS plan, goals, and preferences.
5. Follow Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans and safe work practices to support participants' emotional wellbeing and maintain a safe environment.
6. Encourage and support participants to take part in community, social, recreational, and skill-building activities to promote independence and inclusion.
7. Support participants to build daily living skills and confidence, helping them make choices and maintain control over their own lives.
8. Observe changes in participants' health, behaviour, or wellbeing and report concerns to the appropriate team members.
9. Build positive, respectful relationships with participants, families, and the support team through clear communication and trust.
Communication and Teamwork
* Work collaboratively with participants, families, and other support workers to provide consistent, high-quality care.
* Communicate effectively with allied health professionals, support coordinators, and other stakeholders as required.
* Maintain open communication with management and participate in team meetings, reviews, and feedback processes.
Administration and Compliance
* Complete accurate and timely documentation including progress notes, incident reports, and shift records.
* Comply with the NDIS Code of Conduct, Life Is OK Support Services policies, and all relevant legislation.
Professional Development
* Participate in ongoing training and professional development to strengthen skills and knowledge.
* Apply feedback and learning to improve practice and service delivery.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Essential:
* Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
* Valid unrestricted Australian driver's licence must needed
* Ability to work a 24/7 rotating roster (including sleepovers, active night shifts, and varied shift lengths)
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Positive, reliable, and respectful attitude
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Understanding of NDIS safeguarding principles and participant rights
Desirable:
* Qualifications or experience in Disability Support, Individual Support, Personal Care, Nursing, Mental Health, Social Work, or related fields (including current students)
* Experience supporting participants with Autism, ADHD, mental health needs, and high physical support needs also need shysopnaia
* Experience driving wheelchair-accessible vehicles or vans
