We're looking for motivated problem-solvers who enjoy variety in their work and building strong relationships with contractors, service providers and stakeholders. Whether you're an experienced engineer ready to take on a PO2 Maintenance Engineer role, or you bring strong practical, technical or coordination skills that suit the Technical and General Officer (TGO) pathway, we want to hear from you.
In this role, you'll play a vital part in planning, scoping and scheduling maintenance works, using your local knowledge to contribute to state-wide programs, and ensuring high safety and performance standards are met. You'll also be the go-to person for evaluating contractor performance, coordinating responses to unexpected events, and helping keep our essential infrastructure in top condition.

About You

Whether you apply through the PO2 Maintenance Engineer pathway or the TGO pathway, you will bring:
* Project management experience and a sound understanding of road maintenance or infrastructure, including the issues, risks, trends and directions in the field.
* Experience developing maintenance programs and working closely with contractors to deliver them.
* Knowledge of contractor conformance requirements, performance and operational standards, and safety and environmental plans and specifications.
* An understanding of quality and risk management principles, relevant legislation, and regulations that affect this work.
You're confident working under limited direction, planning and coordinating technical operations, setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and making well-informed decisions. Your interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills allow you to give clear, concise advice, negotiate effectively, and resolve conflicts. Above all, you're committed to delivering excellent outcomes for customers, stakeholders and the community.
Qualifications/Experience
PO2:
* A current Drivers licence.
* A recognised degree in Civil Engineering or other relevant engineering discipline providing eligibility for professional accredited is required.
TGO4:
* A current Drivers licence.
* A relevant Diploma or Advanced Diploma or recognised qualification appropriate to the Construction/Engineering Technology Career Group is required. This may include but is not limited to - engineering design/drafting, estimating/specifications, construction and support, road construction and/or maintenance, traffic management and road safety auditing.
Special Conditions
* A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.
* Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.
Tenure of Vacancy
Temporary appointment up to 12 months.
Remuneration
PO2 - $88,255 to $97,667 pa + superannuation.
TGO4 - $91,260 to $ 95,413pa + superannuation.
