This position is a pathway to becoming a qualified train driver. The primary objective of this role is to provide operational support to the train driver, ensuring safe and efficient train operation in accordance with rail safety management procedures and systems.
The successful candidate will be responsible for working collaboratively with the qualified driver to perform rail safety work in train operations. This includes participating in safety meetings, training sessions, briefing, and toolbox talks associated with safe and efficient train operations.
To achieve this goal, the candidate will need to work towards obtaining the required units of competency as part of the Certificate IV in Train Driving (TLI42622). Additionally, they must comply with procedures, work instructions, operating protocols, and rules to facilitate the delivery of safe and efficient train operations.
Responsibilities
 * Work with a commitment to safety and demonstrate integrity, reliability, and inclusion.
 * Participate in safety-related activities, including meetings, training, briefings, and toolbox talks.
 * Work towards achieving the required units of competency as part of the Certificate IV in Train Driving (TLI42622).
 * Comply with procedures, work instructions, operating protocols, and rules to ensure safe and efficient train operations.
Requirements
 * Available to work across a 24/7 shift work roster.
 * Technical or trade background preferred but not essential.
 * Hold a current driver's license and provide recent driving history.
 * Ability to work collaboratively and harmoniously as part of a team.
 * Ability to work autonomously using proactive approach to task resolution, as well as being able to work effectively in a team environment.
 * Flexibility and adaptability, with ability to work in a safety-critical environment.
 * Clear, concise, and accurate communication skills, both orally and in writing.
 * Fitness for work and meet the requirements of a Rail Category one medical with good level of fitness and general health.

 9. TLIF 0004 - Work effectively in a train-driving environment.
 10. TLIF 2010 - Apply fatigue management strategies.
 11. TLIF 3058 - Apply safeworking rules and regulations to rail functions.
 12. TLIF 3091 - Apply awareness of dangerous goods and hazardous materials requirements.
