About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dispensary Technician to join our team. The successful candidate may be a qualified Pharmacy Technician or an Overseas-trained Pharmacist, with strong attention to detail and previous experience in a dispensary or pharmacy setting.
Working under the supervision of a qualified Naturopath, you will be responsible for dispensing supplements, practitioner-only prescriptions, and compounded preparations. You will also support stock management, quality assurance, and day-to-day dispensary operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense supplements, herbal medicines, and practitioner-only products according to prescriptions.
- Download and process prescriptions in the dispensary system.
- Prepare, label, and package products in line with regulatory and clinic standards.
- Assist in compounding of herbal formulas, nutritional blends, and topical preparations (creams/ointments).
- Maintain accurate prescription and stock records.
- Monitor, order, and rotate stock to ensure product quality and availability.
- Ensure correct storage and handling of all supplements and herbal medicines.
- Support naturopaths with prescription preparation and provide clear communication to patients regarding collection.
- Ensure dispensary standards of hygiene and order and compliance with safety and quality standards.
Skills & Experience
- High attention to detail and accuracy in dispensing and record-keeping.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work under supervision and follow clinic protocols.
- Desirable: Experience in compounding (herbal mixtures, creams, topical formulations).
- Previous experience in a pharmacy, dispensary, or health clinic setting is highly regarded.
- General awareness of how supplements and herbal medicines may interact or cause minor side effects is appreciated.
- An interest in learning more about ingredients—such as active components or excipients—can support accuracy in dispensing tasks.
Qualifications
- Certificate or Diploma in Pharmacy Technician (preferred), or qualification as a Pharmacist overseas
- Demonstrated understanding of supplements, herbal medicines, or pharmaceuticals.
- Commitment to ongoing learning in natural and integrative health.
