Responsibilities
Develop and implement automation and control systems for bespoke machinery and robotic cells
Program Rockwell and/or Siemens PLCs and develop HMIs
Perform robotic programming (ABB and/or KUKA essential)
Integrate and troubleshoot vision systems – including Cognex, Micro-Epsilon, or Mech-Mind
Create detailed electrical schematics and lead component selection
Ensure full compliance with Australian Safety Standards (AS)
Deliver complex automation projects across varied industries
Mentor junior team members and collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical and software teams
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum 5 years' experience in controls engineering across programming, PLCs, HMIs, and vision integration
Proven capability with Rockwell and/or Siemens PLCs
Robot programming experience with ABB and/or KUKA is essential
Strong experience with vision systems, ideally Cognex, Micro-Epsilon, Mech-Mind
Skilled in electrical schematic design and component selection
Experience delivering diverse and bespoke automation projects from scratch
Familiarity with a broad range of industrial communication protocols
Autonomous project leadership skills and the ability to mentor others
