The Waterways Safety and Management branch leads the behaviour‐change and compliance programs that keep WA's navigable waters safe. We deliver targeted safety education, work closely with communities and industry to encourage and enforce responsible use of our waterways, and collaborate across maritime projects with state, Commonwealth, local authorities, industry and community partners in a supportive, flexible environment.
Opportunity
Lead the strategic direction of navigational safety across Western Australia's vast and diverse waterways. This senior management role offers the opportunity to shape statewide aids to navigation, aquatic use planning and maritime safety programs that directly support safe, sustainable use of WA's navigable waters. You'll balance long‐term infrastructure planning with operational delivery, lead technical specialists, and work closely with government, industry and community stakeholders. If you bring strong maritime expertise, infrastructure leadership and a passion for public safety, this is a chance to make a lasting statewide impact.
There is currently 1 permanent position available for immediate filling.
The Ideal Candidate
* Strategic leader in navigational safety and marine infrastructure, delivering complex, regulated programs at scale.

* Current Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal Certificate (or equivalent) with strong practical maritime capability.

* A relevant résumé that clearly outlines the skills and experience you have gained in relation to the selection criteria on the attached JDF.
* A 1–2 page statement providing further detail about the infrastructure projects you have managed and how your experience has led to substantial knowledge and understanding of current trends, issues and legislation that relate to the delivery of maritime/safety services.
* A copy of your current Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal Certificate of Competency that complies with the National Law 2012 or equivalent.
Please nominate two (2) referees who can provide feedback on your capacity to meet the Work-Related Requirements. At least one of the referees should be your most recent, immediate supervisor.
