In more recent years the business has expanded into sales, ripening and processing of produce.
About the Position
We are seeking a Packing Shed Manager to lead our shed operations in Lakeland. In this full-time role, you'll oversee the packing shed, ensuring every order meets our high-quality standards and is dispatched on schedule—all while enjoying a balanced 4-day, 38-hour workweek.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain compliance with Workplace Health and Safety, HR Policies, Food Safety and environmental objectives.
* Manage inventory systems and coordinate with suppliers to maintain packing shed supplies.
* Collaborate with key stakeholders to manage packing output in line with seasonal fluctuations in supply and demand.
* Coordinate transport for the refrigerated delivery of packed produce on time
* Coordinate routine equipment servicing and repairs in collaboration with the maintenance team.
* Lead, manage, motivate and develop the team
* Staff management, including hiring, performance appraisals, rostering and performance management
* Ensure safe and efficient operations by overseeing pre-start checks, enforcing correct PPE usage and maintaining accurate and detailed records for daily production
About you:
* Significant experience in produce packing or production
* A strong understanding of food safety standards
* Excellent leadership skills with a proven ability to manage and develop a team.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
* Strong attention to detail, thoroughness and problem-solving skills
* Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office and the ability to adapt to job specific software interfaces.

* Lakeland to Cooktown: 1 hour
* Lakeland to Mareeba: 2 hours
