Job Description
We're Canva's Product Insights Enablement group — or PIE — focused on unlocking smarter, faster product development. PIE owns Pilot, our internal platform for experimentation tooling, feature flags, metrics, and a feature catalogue. We're combining qualitative and quantitative insights, leaning into AI, and empowering teams to make more confident, impactful product decisions. We're a fast-growing team of FE/BE engineers, PMs, designers and data scientists/analytics engineers, and we're excited to open this role to accelerate our vision.
About The Role
We're looking for a Frontend Engineer who's passionate about building high-quality internal tools that shape product strategy. This role suits someone who thrives on thoughtful UX, clean architecture, and close collaboration. You'll define and shape what we build by collaborating with stakeholders, gathering requirements, and turning complexity into clarity. You'll work with platform engineers, analysts and product teams to design and develop internal tools that visualize the health and quality of product features.
What You'd Be Doing In This Role
As Canva scales, change is part of our DNA. This will give you a sense of the work, but it may evolve over time.
* Build and maintain frontend components for internal tools that visualize product insights
* Collaborate across specialties to understand and integrate platform metrics and requirements
* Partner with product teams to represent their features accurately in the platform
* Lead workshops and working sessions with stakeholders to refine tool and project requirements
* Shape the future of how Canva measures and improves product quality at scale
* Mentor other frontend developers in the group
* Work across the group to uplift frontend engineering practices and contribute to design systems
You're probably a match if you have
* Solid frontend engineering experience, especially in TypeScript, React, and MobX
* Strong product thinking with an eye for building tools that make complex data accessible and actionable
* Experience building reusable UI components and working within design systems
* Proven ability to gather, shape, and implement requirements through collaborative conversations and workshops
* A self-starter mindset — you proactively seek out problems and propose solutions
* Comfortable working closely with backend engineers, designers, and product managers to co-create end-to-end solution
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a bias toward clarity and simplicity
Nice To Have
* Background in product analytics, measurement, or data visualisation
* Experience in full-stack development or internal platform engineering
* Exposure to stakeholder engagement and change management
