This role is your opportunity to work on mission-critical digital integration projects for the Australian Army's Land Network Integration Centre (LNIC).
About the Mission: Supporting LNICThe Australian Army is pivoting toward a future-focused, Integrated Force capable of operating alongside allies in dynamic, complex environments.
To achieve this, LNIC leads efforts to integrate command, control, communication, computer and information systems (C4IS) across land, joint and coalition forces.The LNIC's Digital Design Framework (DDF) is key to this transformation — employing Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and managing technical standards to define, govern, and optimise the Land Combat System's digital footprint.As Engineering Manager, you will support the SO2 Design and LCS DD Engineering Manager to coordinate, govern and advance the Standards Management Program, aligning system baselines, configuration controls, and digital capability integration.This is a senior-level opportunity (Level 3 under the DSS Panel) for a technical leader experienced in engineering management, defence ICT systems, and complex systems design.
You will:Serve as the lead engineering authority for the LCS DD Standards Program.Implement and maintain the Engineering Management Plan (EMP).Ensure technical integrity, configuration control and standardisation of artefacts.Engage with Defence and industry stakeholders to guide capability development.Contribute to the long-term evolution of the Land Combat System Digital Design.As part of this high-impact role, you'll be expected to deliver on the following tasks over the 12-month engagement:Establish and maintain the LCS DD Standards EMP and supporting governance structures aligned to LNIC's Engineering Management System (EMS).Lead compliance efforts with EMP and LNIC EMS — ensuring outputs meet rigorous Defence standards.Conduct quality control and technical reviews of engineering documentation and digital models.Represent the program in forums such as the Engineering Review Board and Configuration Control Board.Manage all configuration activities within the Standards Program, including version control, baselining and traceability.Guide development of standards for interfaces between systems, subsystems, and applications.Collaborate with internal Frames (Advice, Verification, Modelling) and external agencies, acquisition teams and coalition partners.Advise SO2 Design on technical risks, resolutions, and strategic recommendations.Provide technical leadership to Defence stakeholders and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Planning & ReportingGenerate progress and performance reports aligned to the EMP schedule.Support project boards with insights into technical delivery status and future-state planning.Maintain transparent communication and documentation practices throughout all engagements.
Primary Location: Land Network Integration Centre (LNIC), Symonston, ACT Hybrid Flexibility: Onsite preferred.
Case-by-case WFH may be considered.? Travel: Some interstate and international travel expected (field trials, exercises, working groups).Minimum NV1 AGSVA security clearance required at contract commencement.Upgrade to NV2 may be required during the engagement.
Qualifications & Experience8+ years' experience in engineering management (Level 3 DSS panel).Proven track record in engineering or software project delivery within Defence or similar sectors.
