The role of a Funeral Assistant is vital to ensure quality professional outcomes to our families and communities.

Although no previous industry experience is needed, the role will require:
People/relationship management
Impeccable verbal and personal presentation
Ability to prioritise and work effectively under pressure

Second-to-none customer service skills
This role will entail, but is not limited to:
Preparing for the funeral services both within our facility and at external churches and chapels
Providing support to our Funeral Arrangement Consultants (Funeral Directors) and assisting them before, during and after the funeral service as required
Offering guidance and support to the families and communities we serve
Providing a transfer service for the deceased, from home or hospital, into our care (including after hours and weekends)
Assisting with the detailing of company vehicles to ensure first-class presentation
Physically capable of lifting and setting up at gravesides including placing framework around graves, lowering devices, placing chairs and erecting shade
Being able to work a range of tasks with willingness and flexibility for on-call availability day, night and on weekends

This role will require a police check and pre-employment medical to ensure the standard of fitness required (e.g., can you complete ten consecutive push-ups? can you lift 20kg and hold a squat position? do you regularly exercise? do you participate in physical sporting activities?).
We are also a smoke-free workplace.
To apply you will require a current unrestricted driver's licence and, due to the on-call nature of our rostering, it is necessary that you reside within 20 minutes of the local Toowoomba Funeral Home.
