At Bara Barang, we build and deliver specialised services to empower Aboriginal young people with cultural affirmation and connection to cultural education, employment and training.
We are currently looking for an experienced Coordinator to support our growing business. This new position will coordinate the employment placement and ongoing job retention stream of our Indigenous Skills & Employment Program, called 'Make Tomorrow in Manufacturing' (MTIM).
This is a critical role to work with the Program Manager and the Mentors in the program and lead by example to initiate, arrange and deliver the essential elements of the initiative, with a focus on placement into employment.
The program purpose is to secure long term sustainable employment for Aboriginal people in our region, working with businesses (with an emphasis on Manufacturing and related industries) and key stakeholders including Schools, Training Organisations, Employment Service Providers, Youth and Community organisations and of course Aboriginal participants, their families and the broader community.
You will be part of the journey that supports Aboriginal identity, cultural education and the connection to prosperous careers for Aboriginal people living on the NSW Central Coast region.

About you
We are looking for a dedicated community-driven person who has great communication skills, is results-orientated and can demonstrate experience in the coordination of programs and work with both management and specialist delivery staff to serve participants, their families, the community, business and industry.
Essential criteria
· Understanding of the strengths and challenges experienced by local Aboriginal people and ability to coordinate/implement employment placement programs for positive change
· Demonstrated track record achieving results by coordinating the transition of candidates from vocational skilling programs into paid employment, or in a similar role where you have a proven track record
· Ability to maintain accurate records, manage data, supervise staff effectively, monitor team progress and support management with reporting on milestones and outcomes.
· Work in a culturally safe and supportive work environment
· Program coordination using a teamwork approach and to work productively with stakeholders to promote all our services and ensure quality participant experiences
· Current Drivers Licence
· Working with Children (or willingness to obtain)
· Satisfactory National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
· Qualifications and/or experience in Aboriginal Mentoring, Vocational services, Employment, Training, Education or vocational/trade/industry background with supervision of other workers desirable.
