About the Role
We are urgently hiring Support Worker positions available for Supported Independent Living and community Access around Darwin and Palmerston regions.
Main Duties / Responsibilities
* Assisting people to perform important daily activities including home support
* Facilitating daily personal hygiene and dressing tasks
* Implementing de-escalation techniques for preventing and defusing behaviors of concern
* Assisting, supporting, and chaperoning outside the home environment which may include transportation of your client.
* Assisting with medication compliance which will include dispensation of prescription medication.
* Implementing strategies for preventing and managing difficult behaviors
* Implementing positive approaches, clear, inclusive, and respectful communication.
Eligibility Criteria for the Roles
* Have a wonderful attitude and approach that is client focused.
* Full availability including sleepovers and active nights.
* Manual handling skills including hoist and wheelchair.
* Basic administrative tasks - Report in app daily progress/hand-over notes.
* Proven experience in providing direct support to complex clients who require a high level of care, behavior management and physical assistance to complete daily activities.
* Practical knowledge working with individuals with behaviors of concern as well as experience across both physical and mental disabilities.
