Job Opportunity: Senior Legal Strategist
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and visionary legal professional to lead our legal team and oversee the execution of strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will have a strong track record in providing expert legal counsel, managing complex legal matters, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement comprehensive legal strategies to support business growth and mitigate risks.
* Provide actionable recommendations to senior management on key legal issues, including regulatory compliance, contractual obligations, and internal policies.
* Direct and manage the legal framework and governance of the organisation by ensuring full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
* Oversee the preparation of legal documents, including contracts and agreements, to ensure they reflect business terms and comply with legal requirements.
* Lead the evaluation of contracts for compliance, reviewing terms and recommending revisions to protect organisational interests.
* Manage the timely review and approval of legal documents through efficient processes for contract management.
* Review and verify the terms and conditions of contracts and agreements, communicating necessary revisions to relevant departments.
* Lead and coordinate initiatives related to legal policy, frameworks, and instruments, engaging with regulators and external experts to ensure responsiveness to industry needs.
* Identify and evaluate potential legal risks through detailed research, analysis of statutory changes, and assessment of case law trends.
Requirements:
* Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Certification of Legal Practice (CLP), or related field; Master's degree in Law, Business Administration, or related field is an added advantage.
* 10-12 years' experience in legal firms with exposure to various fields of law, including Contracts Law, Companies Law, Land Law, Commercial Law, and Public Law.
* 3-5 years of experience in a managerial or advisory role would be an added advantage.
* Proven track record in providing legal counsel within a statutory body, government-linked company, regulatory agency, or corporate legal environment.
* Strong experience in contract management, legal advisory, regulatory compliance, and legislative processes.
* Demonstrated ability to lead legal teams and manage external counsel effectively.
* Excellent analytical, drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
* Demonstrated leadership and strategic thinking capabilities, with the ability to manage complex legal matters and provide sound legal advice in a dynamic environment.
* High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
