About the Organisation:A respected provider of residential alcohol and other drug (AOD) rehabilitation services is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join a dynamic team in Bairnsdale. Working within a therapeutic community model, this role supports individuals on their journey to recovery through holistic, evidence-based healthcare in a residential setting.About the Role:The AOD Residential Nurse will provide clinical nursing care, withdrawal management, and health education for residents undergoing treatment for problematic substance use. Working alongside clinicians, medical professionals, and support staff, you will ensure clients are cared for in a safe, respectful, and recovery-focused environment.This role combines hands-on healthcare with leadership, supervision of Enrolled Nurses, and active involvement in group work and therapeutic programs. You'll be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team that values inclusion, cultural safety, and person-centred care.Key Responsibilities:Monitor and manage AOD withdrawal symptoms and related care plansAdminister medication and liaise with pharmacists and GPsConduct AOD and health assessments, referrals, and educationSupport Opioid Assisted Therapy (OAT) stabilisation and harm minimisationSupervise and mentor Enrolled Nurses within their scope of practiceProvide psychoeducation and evidence-based interventions (e.g. CBT, MI)Contribute to care planning, discharge planning, and clinical documentationFacilitate health-related group sessions and promote wellbeingMaintain clinical safety, infection control, stock levels, and medical recordsParticipate in quality improvement, audits, and clinical supervisionLiaise with external services and support court advocacy when requiredKey Selection Criteria:Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered NurseStrong clinical skills in AOD, mental health, and medical careExperience in residential or withdrawal settings preferredUnderstanding of therapeutic community models and trauma-informed careExcellent communication, assessment, and documentation skillsExperience supervising Enrolled Nurses or students (desirable)Ability to work collaboratively and manage complex client needsAdditional Requirements:Current Police Check and Working with Children CheckCurrent Victorian Driver's LicenceWillingness to complete AOD competencies within 12 months if not already heldAvailability to work flexible hours, including on-call roster participationPreparedness to travel locally as requiredBenefits:Contribute to meaningful recovery outcomes in a residential settingBe part of a supportive and inclusive multidisciplinary teamOpportunities for training, development, and supervisionClinical leadership and community advocacy involvementWork in a values-driven, client-focused organisationInterested?For further information on the role, please contact Greg Camm at or .TRADEWIND AUSTRALIA AND THE ORGANISATIONS WE REPRESENT ARE PROUD TO BE EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES EMPLOYERS.We welcome applications from people who reflect the diversity of the organisations we partner with, and the people they support.
