To continue to deliver for our community, we are seeking an experienced Communications and Engagement Advisor to join the team, responsible for enhancing communication and engagement opportunities through strategic integrated communications.
This role will provide you the opportunity to:
* Write and edit quality content for an extensive range of print publications and corporate documents including strategies and Council's Annual Report; as well as varied external sources including media, advertising, marketing and community publications.
* Write and edit engaging content for digital channels including Council's website, social media and EDM using clear, concise and grammatically correct language.
* Research and write speeches, messages, media releases, comments/opinions, briefing notes, and media responses for the Mayor and Councillors, CEO and Senior Leadership Team.
* Plan and deliver successful media events including sod-turning, launch and opening events to celebrate Council projects and programs.
* Assist with the development and implementation of community engagement plans.
* Photograph and film people and events for use on Council's communications channels as required.
* Develop and support the day-to-day management of the organisation's corporate brand and identity.
Our ideal candidate will have:
* Experience in a communications role in a complex and diverse organisation with a focus on media and government relations.
* High level written and oral communication skills with notable experience in professional writing, editing and project management of print and digital publications.
* Demonstrated experience in writing and delivering communications and engagement plans to achieve positive results for the organisation and community.
* Demonstrated experience to manage media enquiries and events and develop and maintain professional relationships with external stakeholders including media and government staff.
* Experience in managing multiple communication projects simultaneously and delivering on deadlines to achieve desired outcomes.
* Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of management, staff and stakeholders (internal and external) to solve specialist problems.
* Knowledge of local government, media and political environments.
