Work Recovery Co-ordinator Work Recovery & Oversight Team
Location: Sydney or Region based, may require a willingness to travel across the state
Employment type: Full-time, Temporary 2 years with a possibility of an extension
Salary: $129,464 - $142,665 per annum plus superannuation and leave loading
Your role
The Work Recovery & Oversight Team forms part of the Commercial Management division of Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW). The primary role is to guide structure and support and have visibility over the work being done across agencies, including CSNSW and DCJ Injury Management in the return-to-work and workers’ compensation space. The work includes enhancing safety culture within the agency and improve return-to-work outcomes.
The Work Recovery Coordinator will oversee the day-to-day functions of the Work Recovery Team members, monitor progress against Key Performance Indicators (KPI), and provide guidance to staff to ensure timely and appropriate support for injured workers. The role contributes to improved recovery outcomes, opportunities for injured staff to return to work, resulting in workforce sustainability.
What you’ll do
As part of this role is responsible for coordinating operational activities, facilitating communication between stakeholders, and ensuring the consistent implementation of recovery strategies aligned with organisational goals. The role supports both operational efficiency and a safe, compliant work environment.
There is an emphasis to create, monitor, and provide oversight for the functions of a number of custodial and/or community staff with presence across State.
The role involves:
* Coordinating daily operations of the Work Recovery Team to deliver timely, effective support for injured workers in line with organisational recovery strategies.
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives, providing operational guidance, monitoring performance, and preparing reports to inform decision-making.
* Engage and collaborate with stakeholders across internal teams and external agencies to ensure service continuity and successful return-to-work outcomes.
* Act as escalation point for complex claims, including suitable duties planning, investigations, and work injury damages cases.
* Manage critical incidents and regulatory compliance, including Safety Suite investigations, SafeWork notifications, and confidential reporting.
* Monitor team performance and maintain service continuity, overseeing portfolios during staff absences and conducting site visits.
* Prepare strategic reports and implement reforms to address systemic trends, drive workforce sustainability, and promote a culture of safety and performance.
This opportunity will be temporary 2 years with the possibility of extension.
What we’re looking for
* Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams while promoting continuous improvement initiatives to deliver organisational priorities and achieve high-quality outcomes
* Sound knowledge of legislation, policies and procedures governing NSW Workers Compensation and Work Health and Safety legislation and their regulations.
* Current driver’s licence and preparedness to drive a vehicle while performing the role. Travel requirements will vary depending on location.
* Proficient in the use of record keeping systems and Microsoft suite.
