Manager, Assurance and Oversight

- Salary: $138,631 - $185,518 ( Plus Superannuation)
- Fixed-Term position until 30 September 2026
- Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)
- Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne VIC 3000 (flexibility may be available)

The Role

The Manager, Assurance and Oversight supports the Policy and Coordination Unit to undertake a broad range of priority policy and project management functions, ensuring that activities are strategically aligned, and that risks and opportunities are understood and managed in accordance with Ministerial and government directions.

The Manager, Assurance and Oversight will be responsible for driving program assurance and oversight outcomes, ensuring projects being delivered by Sport and Experience Economy (SEE) are delivered to best practice standards supporting delivery by SEE branches.

The position will also be responsible for the project management office for SEE to support the delivery of the Victorian Government's Regional Package with particular focus on the infrastructure program and for implementing assurance frameworks to support program delivery.

If required by the Group, the employee may be deployed to another Unit or Team and take any necessary steps to register for that work.

Key accountabilities include :

- Manage a project management office, utilising professional expertise and oversight of all stages of complex infrastructure, participation and grants programs to time, cost and quality requirements.
- Develop and implement an assurance and oversight framework for SEE to support the delivery of the Regional Package with particular focus on the infrastructure program.
- Develop relevant materials and be the responsible to support the Director and the Deputy Secretary to deliver the Program Control Board function as part of the Regional Sport Infrastructure Program.
- Provide strategic advice to priorities and cross-cutting policy issues within the Sport and Experience Economy Group.
- Develop risk-based reports for management and executives to support the delivery of priority projects and programs, including the Regional Package work program.
- Build mutually beneficial partnerships with key stakeholders internal and external to DJSIR to ensure a culture of reporting is constructive and responds to stakeholder's underlying needs. Use understanding of the stakeholder's organisational context to ensure outcomes are achieved while finding innovative solutions to resolve stakeholder issues.

The Team

The position of Manager, Assurance and Oversight will work within Sport and Recreation Victoria branch, which sits within Sport and Experience Economy (SEE) group.

SEE group is comprised of Sport and Recreation Victoria (SRV) and Tourism and Events (T&E;).

SRV aims to create greater sport and active recreation participation opportunities for all Victorians in order to maximise economic, social and health benefits and enhance Victoria's liveability.

This is achieved by supporting the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events and the Minister for Community Sport in the management of major sports facilities, administering grant programs that develop community facilities, strengthening the capacity of sport and recreation organisations, developing more active recreation and other innovative options to increase overall participation rates, reducing barriers to participation for specific population groups, supporting world-class sporting events and Victoria's high performance sport sector, and reinforcing the role that sport and active recreation plays in growing the Victorian economy, supporting jobs and building stronger communities.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience:
