* State Government opportunity – Mascot location with hybrid flexibility
* 6 Months initial contract with possible further extension
* $550 per day + super

Our client leads the NSW public service by fostering a culture of service and collaboration, promoting strong public sector performance and promoting the voice of Aboriginal people and communities across the sector.

Role

The Project Officer works as part of a team to support and deliver projects that progress the establishment and ongoing functions of the Aboriginal Languages Trust. The Project Officer will build and maintain relationships with Aboriginal language communities and stakeholders across New South Wales.

The role includes project management, grants program coordination, liaison, monitoring and reporting, and consultation and engagement with stakeholders. The Trust team work closely with the Aboriginal Languages Trust Board (the Trust Board), Aboriginal Affairs (AANSW) and other government and community stakeholders.

Key accountabilities

* Build and strengthen relationships between the Trust and Aboriginal language organisations and communities and gather insights into language activities occurring throughout New South Wales.
* Contribute to programs to benefit language communities, including the Trust's Community Investments program and other grants programs, Languages Gathering and network groups.
* Share knowledge of community language aspirations, challenges and needs within the Trust to inform the Trust's programs and activities.
* Liaise with other NSW Government departments and external service providers to provide relevant and up to date information to language organisations and communities.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of a range of communication strategies, tools and initiatives to ensure effective engagement with community and other stakeholders.
* Prepare a range of project related documentation, including reports, briefs, submissions, status updates and correspondence as required.
* Maintain appropriate records in accordance with statutory and recordkeeping requirements.
* Highlight the significance and importance of Aboriginal languages to Aboriginal people's connections with culture and identity and as part of the broader cultural heritage of NSW.

Essential requirements

* Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with and understand issues impacting on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
* Current NSW Drivers Licence
* Ability to effectively and professionally manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including managing expectations and balancing competing priorities.
* Deliver a range of project management and support services, given tight deadlines, limited resources and the need to manage competing priorities.
* Respond to and resolve complex enquiries and issues to ensure the provision of accurate information, and the timely and effective resolution of issues in a deadline driven environment.
