About Rottnest Express

We are part of the Journey Beyond Group and lead marine transfers to and from Rottnest Island.

In addition to ferry services, we specialise in extended stay and day tour packages, as well as adventure tours providing unforgettable experiences in and around the Island.


About You

You will be a skilled and team-oriented Marine Engineer with a positive attitude, flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and public holidays.

* Experience in Marine Engineering, with MED 2 or MED 1 qualification (preferably in Marine Tourism);
* Good knowledge of marine engines and systems;
* Experience in conducting risk assessments and introducing practical safety measures;
* Excellent customer service skills to meet guest expectations;
* Experience with high-speed vessels;
* Ability to manage time and have strong organisational skills;
* Autonomy and teamwork capabilities;
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with customer service resolution skills.


About the Role

We seek a Marine Vessel Engineer for a full-time or part-time seasonal contract (November 2024 to April 2025), working a lifestyle roster, casual opportunities also available.

The successful candidate will perform daily preventative maintenance tasks and maintain the safe mechanical operation of vessels, ensuring all repairs are conducted safely and efficiently according to set procedures.


Key Responsibilities

* Perform daily engine and machinery checks on assigned vessels;
* Assist Master with vessel management and safe operations, following policies and procedures;
* Diagnose system problems as they occur;
* Record maintenance requirements and ramifications accurately;
* Coordinate and maintain effective vessel preventative maintenance programs;
* Maintain logs and work orders through to job completion and sign-off;
* Liaise with shore support for servicing and repairs as required;
* Secure vessels at marinas and island jetties;
* Participate in safety drill practices as required by the Master;
* Assist with guest experience duties, including meeting and greeting guests.
