SuniTAFE is seeking a dynamic and industry-savvy educator to join us as a Teacher – Mining Pathways for the Swan Hill Campus, delivering foundational training that equips students with the skills needed to enter the mining sector. This is a casual role with the objective to create an engaging, supportive learning environment where students can thrive—from their first day in the classroom to their transition into employment or further study.
In collaboration with other educators and the Education Delivery Manager, you'll support student engagement and retention by identifying learning needs and applying adult learning principles. You'll contribute to the ongoing development of course resources, ensuring alignment with industry standards and local workforce expectations and guide students toward successful course completion and future employment pathways in the mining sector.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Teach as indicated against the primary objectives above, and as detailed in an individualised annual Work plan.
* Facilitate learning that reflects real-world mining environments, including safety protocols, risk management, and environmental awareness.
* Collaborate with other teaching staff and the Education Delivery Manager to identify students needing additional support and implement strategies to help them stay on track.
* Integrate literacy and numeracy development into structured classroom delivery, ensuring that all students receive inclusive and industry-relevant instruction.
* Use contextualised examples and practical scenarios to help students understand mining terminology, workplace documentation, and operational procedures.
* Promote effective teamwork and communication skills, including conflict resolution and workplace expectations.
* Carry out necessary preparation, correction, assessment, validation and report writing associated with teaching duties.
* Guide students in interpreting safety data sheets (SDSs), safe work method statements (SWMSs), and site-specific safety signage.
* Encourage students to reflect on their own skills and identify pathways for further development and employment in the mining sector.

Key selection criteria:
* A current Certificate IV TAE, or the willingness to obtain is essential to the position.
* Minimum of three years professional industry experience.
* Ability to work with a diverse learner population is required.
* Highly developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
The successful candidate will be required to provide:
* A successful criminal record check which is less than 6 months old.
* A working with children check.
