Job Opportunity – Complex Residential House Leader

Location: South Gippsland and other service locations

Employment Type: Full time (Rotating Roster: Monday–Sunday, including Morning, Afternoon, Sleepover & Active Support shifts – pro rata)

Reports To: SILL Coordinator and Services Manager

Award Classification: SCHADS Level 3 Pay Point 2 – 3 (based on qualifications and experience)

Salary Range: $79,000 – $79,500 per annum (pro rata)

Position Purpose

The Complex Residential Team Leader is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the safe, responsive, and high-quality delivery of care within our supported accommodation services. You will lead, mentor, and support a team of support workers, ensuring services are aligned with each resident's goals, needs, and care plans.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership & Team Management

2. Provide day-to-day supervision, guidance, and mentoring to support staff.

3. Lead team meetings, handovers, and debriefs.

4. Foster a positive and respectful team culture aligned with Newdawn's values.

5. Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and performance appraisals

Resident Support & Case Coordination

- Oversee the implementation of person-centred care plans and NDIS goals.

- Promote independence, dignity, and choice for residents.

- Engage with families, guardians, advocates, and external providers.

- Manage behavioural and crisis situations using person-centred and trauma-informed approaches.

Operational Management

- Oversee daily operations, including rosters, coverage, and scheduling.

- Monitor petty cash, household budgets, and resource management.

- Ensure compliance with NDIS Practice Standards, safety regulations, and reporting.

- Participate in audits, continuous improvement, and incident investigations.

Compliance & Documentation

- Maintain accurate documentation: progress notes, incident reports, medication records, and shift reports.

- Ensure compliance with policies for medication, infection control, manual handling, and safeguarding.

- Escalate risks or breaches according to policy

Training & Development

- Identify training needs and support staff development.

- Facilitate or coordinate mandatory and ongoing training.

- Promote reflective practice and continuous quality improvement.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential

- 2–3 years' experience in residential disability or community care.

- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.

- Minimum of 3+ years leadership or supervisory experience is required.

- Certificate IV or Diploma in Disability, Community Services, or related.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Working knowledge of NDIS Practice Standards and person-centred care.

- Ability to manage rosters and team coordination.

- Current Driver's Licence.

- NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check.

- Current First Aid & CPR Certification.

- Australian work rights are required for this position.

Desirable

- Experience supporting clients with complex behaviours or dual diagnoses.

- Certificate IV in Leadership & Management (or willingness to obtain).

- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and positive behaviour support.
