The role Reporting to the Advanced Environmental Health Scientist, Environmental Hazards Unit, you will be responsible for overseeing, monitoring, and reporting on the progress of assigned projects, ensuring adherence to best practice guidelines and processes for consistent, high-quality outcomes. Your role involves comprehensive project management activities, including the development and maintenance of formal project plans, budgets, and records in alignment with the project lifecycle. Proactively identifying and addressing project risks, you'll engage in constructive discussions with key stakeholders to mitigate critical issues.
As a collaborative team member, you will work effectively with internal and external stakeholders, utilizing your communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to foster productive relationships in a complex and dynamic environment. This role requires the preparation of complex reports, briefings, and policy papers for senior departmental management and other stakeholders. You will navigate political, human resource, and financial pressures, recommending optimal courses of action to achieve agreed-upon strategies within existing constraints. Additionally, you'll establish and maintain governance arrangements for projects, providing a secretariat function for project meetings, ensuring the quality and accuracy of meeting papers and supporting planning activities.
The successful personTo excel in this role, you must possess advanced project management capabilities, demonstrating proficiency in defining tasks, prioritizing effectively, and coordinating activities to meet tight deadlines, with a consistent track record of achieving successful outcomes. Your organizational skills should be highly developed, enabling you to manage competing priorities, coordinate various activities, and assess and report on the efficacy of implemented strategies and projects to management.
Furthermore, you should have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite software, offering expertise in document presentation and formatting, and a positive consideration would be given for web-related skills. Your oral and written communication skills, coupled with strong interpersonal abilities, should be highly developed, allowing you to function seamlessly within a high-performing team, communicate confidently across diverse audiences, and engage in effective consultation and negotiation processes.
