We're seeking experienced .NET Software Engineers / Developers (APS6 equivalent) to join a multidisciplinary team delivering secure, scalable and high‐quality digital solutions within an Australian Government environment.

* Extension options: Up to two extensions of 12 months each

* Working arrangements: Onsite
* Flexible work: Remote arrangements may be considered on a case‐by‐case basis, subject to business needs. Candidates must clearly state their preferred work location if outside ACT/Canberra
* Maximum hours: 40 hours per week
* Security clearance: Must be able to obtain Baseline (Prefer Active Clearance )
About the role
As a .NET Developer, you will design, build and maintain Azure‐based web APIs and portal applications supporting existing legislative reporting and new regulatory processes. You will work closely with cross‐functional teams in an agile environment to deliver secure, robust and user‐focused solutions.
Key duties and responsibilities .
* Develop and maintain Azure‐based Web API and portal applications using .NET Framework and .NET Core
* Integrate system components to deliver seamless end‐to‐end user experiences
* Provide technical advice relating to systems development and solution design
* Apply secure coding practices to ensure solutions are robust and compliant
* Conduct peer reviews of code and infrastructure
* Develop against detailed application architecture and design documentation
* Ensure departmental standards and best practices are consistently applied
* Create and review technical and release documentation
* Communicate effectively with both technical and non‐technical stakeholders
* Collaborate within agile, cross‐functional delivery teams
* Mentor team members and promote cross‐skilling and professional development
* Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration and learning
* Undertake additional duties as required
Application requirements
Candidates must submit a one‐page pitch (up to 5,000 characters) addressing all selection criteria.
Essential criteria
* Minimum 5 years' experience delivering secure web‐based business solutions
* Strong experience developing web APIs using Azure API Management and customer‐facing portals using .NET Framework (.NET Core), ASP.NET
* Experience developing front‐end applications using Angular or React
* Familiarity with the Information Security Manual (ISM) and applying security controls during design and build
* Experience with unit, integration and automation testing using tools such as xUnit, NUnit, Selenium or Playwright.NET
* Demonstrated Azure cloud experience including Logic Apps, Azure SQL, Service Bus and API Manager
* Strong experience using Azure DevOps and Visual Studio for CI/CD and code management
* Experience integrating custom solutions with third‐party systems, including Microsoft Dynamics 365
* Proven experience optimising legacy code to leverage Azure cloud capabilities
* Experience delivering solutions in agile, multidisciplinary teams
* Ability to collaborate effectively with geographically dispersed teams and mentor team members
Desirable criteria
* Experience delivering solutions using Agile and DevOps delivery models
* Advanced experience with Angular or React
* Experience in integration, UI and front‐end testing using Selenium, Playwright.NET or Jest
* Tertiary qualifications in software development or related discipline
* Experience working with SQL Server, Cosmos DB, Blob Storage and high‐volume data processing
