Salary: Level 3, $137,428 - $150,385 per annum (pro-rata) (SEA GA 2023)

North Albany Senior High School (NASHS) is an independent public school in Albany, Western Australia, providing secondary education from Year 7 to Year 12. NASHS focuses on helping students achieve personal excellence and engage in a changing world, guided by the motto Care and Diligence with a range of courses including Vocational, General, and Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) pathways. Facilities include a music studio, performing arts theatre, and photography studio.
NASHS invites applicants for the role of Head of the Mathematics Learning Area, a strategic, inspiring, and collaborative leadership position.
The Role
The successful applicant will lead a dedicated group of educators, demonstrating high-quality instructional leadership and a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning across the Mathematics department. The role supports all students, including those requiring additional support and those pursuing university entry, with the ability to teach ATAR Mathematics Methods and Specialist courses desirable.
Applicants should demonstrate experience with trauma-informed and restorative practices to create protected, inclusive learning environments, and a strong understanding of STEM pedagogies with a commitment to culturally responsive practices, particularly for Aboriginal students and families.
The Head of Mathematics will model, sustain, and strengthen a restorative culture, contribute to a positive staff culture, and support professional growth, shared leadership, and high expectations. Collaboration with the Leadership Team will focus on sustaining high-quality teaching and learning in every classroom and strengthening partnerships with parents, carers and the wider community to maintain NASHS as a school of choice in the Albany region.

Eligibility
To work with us you must:
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment
- hold registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia
- obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start
