Offer description

- Within the Income and Markets division at Aware Super, this role is the business lead for Securities Finance
- The fund has committed to extensive expansion of the business, focused on alpha generation through synthetic products
- This is an opportunity to rapidly expand the performance of this business for members, in a product that senior management is committed to

Aware Super is one of Australia’s leading industry super funds with a multi-billion dollar portfolio and a growing global presence. Aware is currently seeking a Senior Securities Finance Specialist to take full responsibility for managing and growing this strategically important part of the business.

This role will manage the day-to-day running and development of the securities finance portfolio, which is central to both balance sheet efficiency and revenue generation. The business has gained significant traction in recent years, with growing capabilities in synthetic derivatives, and is now entering a strong phase of expansion. The expectation is that the appointed candidate will double revenue in the near term with further growth in the long term, to emulate global pension funds’ performance in this product.

The role will be accountable for trading, strategy development, and performance delivery across the securities finance book, for both physical and synthetic traded products. Day to day you will be responsible for trade execution, transaction management and utilisation of derivatives and physicals to support internal investment strategies. The role is expected to be market facing, with the candidate building strong relationships across agency lender groups, brokers, asset managers, and other service providers in market.

We’re looking for a driven, commercially minded professional with an extensive background in equity finance, repo, synthetic products, or collateral and reinvestment strategies. We are seeking both technical expertise and a strategic mindset, with a strong track record in managing financing trades or portfolios in either a buy- or sell-side setting. This is a rare opportunity to take full ownership of a well-established and evolving strategy within a globally active, growth-stage platform.

Required Key Skills & Experience

- 12+ years’ experience in securities finance, including stock lending, repo, TRS, or prime brokerage
- Strong understanding of loan and TRS documentation
- Familiarity with capital and regulatory frameworks (e.g. RWA, liquidity constraints)
- Experience from a buy-side treasury or portfolio finance team, or from a sell-side financing desk (e.g. delta one, repo, or prime)
- Robust pricing knowledge and ideally derivatives trading experience
- Entrepreneurial mindset with strong collaboration and communication skills
