QIFVLS is a state-wide Community Legal Practice with offices across 8 regions in Queensland. We are a not-for-profit organisation that provides free legal services, including court and tribunal representation, welfare support, advocacy, and community education to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victims of family violence and/or sexual assault.
About the role
The purpose of this position is to provide high-quality HR generalist advice to management and staff across a range of HR-related matters, under the guidance of the General Manager. This role is heavily administration-based to support key HR functions.
Responsibilities
* Manage recruitment process end to end including selection, advertising, screening of applicants, interviewing, preparation of employment contracts, and onboarding.
* Drafting of position descriptions, employment contracts, and liaising with payroll.
* Support the organisation redesign by evaluating roles, defining position descriptions, and developing key performance indicators.
* Assist with the review of human resources policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring version control of all documents.
* Delivery of the HR Induction and onboarding program for all new staff.
* Provide timely HR advice and support on a range of HR matters to staff and supervisors.
* Provide advice to managers on employee relations issues, remaining well informed on employment legislation.
* Understand performance management processes and procedures, knowing when to escalate matters to the General Manager for consideration.
* Assist with the development of a training and development strategy and delivery of training programs.
* Assist with Graduate Program training and organise training for staff in general.
* Provide reporting to the Executive team including HR statistics, grievances, complaints.
* Advise management on change management issues impacting the business and organisational objectives.
* Respond to management and employee enquiries.
* Review and update employment contracts and conditions.
* Review and update human resources policies, procedures, and guidelines.
* Assist with coordination for WHS Committee meetings.
Selection Criteria
* Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent knowledge, experience, and training.
* Sound organisational management skills including the ability to effectively manage competing priorities.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to quickly build rapport with Managers and Staff.
* Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and willingness to learn.
* Comfortable working in an ever-changing environment.
* Culturally sensitive with the ability to understand the issues faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in remote communities.
* Sound attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office.
* A current driver's license is mandatory and you must be eligible to work in Australia, along with a willingness to provide a national police clearance and eligibility to apply successfully for a Queensland Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
