About the role

National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for an Assistant Joint Management Coordinator to work as part of the team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.

This is an Aboriginal Identified role where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act

As the Assistant Joint Management Coordinator, you will work as part of a team to support effective liaison between NPWS, Ngullingah Jugun (Our Country) Registered Native Title Body Corporate (RNTBC) and their Ranger team, other relevant government agencies and external stakeholders. This collaboration aims to deliver on NPWS commitments within the Western Bundjalung Indigenous Land Use Agreement (ILUA), reserve plans of management, and the decisions of the Ngullingah Jugun (Our Country) RNTBC.

About You

You're a highly organised and motivated individual, with a strong knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and prior experience in working with Aboriginal communities. You are able to solve complex problems, achieve stakeholder agreement and provide culturally appropriate recommendations whilst balancing Aboriginal culture, customary practices and environmental legal requirements into decision making.

Key Knowledge and Experience

* Experience in the provision of administrative and support services.
* Experience in the delivery of land management projects in partnerships with Aboriginal communities.
* Knowledge of Joint Management arrangements and an understanding of environmental issues and Aboriginal Cultural Heritage management.

Essential Requirements

* This is an identified role under Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 and as such Aboriginality is an essential requirement of the role. Aboriginal identified positions are developed where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act for Aboriginal people who meet the following criteria:

* is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and

* identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
* is accepted as a such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.

* Current Australian Driver's License and willingness to fly in light aircraft.
