Job Details
Babylon Data is seeking
two Senior SQL Developer / Data Engineers
to support a major federal transformation initiative aimed at modernising data systems and analytical capability across election-related ICT platforms.
The successful candidates will design, develop, and optimise data pipelines and ETL workflows to deliver analytical datasets that underpin critical business and operational intelligence systems. These roles are suited to experienced data professionals who combine strong technical execution with stakeholder collaboration and problem-solving in fast-paced, multi-disciplinary project environments.
You will contribute to a significant program of work focused on transforming data architecture and enabling advanced analytics, reporting, and forecasting through the Microsoft Azure ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using
Azure Data Factory
and
SQL Server
* Develop and optimise
stored procedures

views
, and complex database queries for high-performance workflows
* Collaborate with
data architects

modellers
, and business stakeholders to deliver robust end-to-end data solutions
* Support
data analysis

discovery

data modelling
activities
* Monitor and resolve performance bottlenecks and pipeline issues

Agile (SAFe)
methodologies and contribute to Agile ceremonies
* Follow best practices for
version control

Essential Criteria
* Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale
data solutions
using
Azure Data Factory
and
Azure SQL databases
* Demonstrated proficiency in
SQL
and
T-SQL
development, including complex stored procedure optimisation
* Strong communication and documentation skills, with a proven ability to collaborate across technical and business domains
* Understanding of
cloud-based data engineering
within the
Azure ecosystem
, including scalability, security, and compliance principles
* Experience designing and implementing
ETL processes
for
dimensional/star schema models
supporting analytical or application use cases
Desirable Criteria
* Background in
CI/CD pipeline
development and deployment using
Azure DevOps
* Previous experience in
federal government
or large-scale regulated environments
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in
