About the role
The Information Services Branch is seeking a skilled and motivated Assistant Director to join the AI Team and support the safe, responsible and effective adoption of artificial intelligence across the Department of the Treasury.
The role plays a key part in Treasury's AI governance arrangements through high quality coordination, policy support and executive briefing in a complex and evolving environment, and sits within a branch responsible for Treasury's digital, information, data and technology capabilities, providing governance and assurance aligned with whole of Australian Government priorities.
Key responsibilities
* Provide end to end secretariat support for AI related governance committees, including agendas, minutes, papers, forward planning, horizon scanning and action tracking.
* Support effective interaction between AI governance committees and other internal governance and executive decision making forums.
* Support senior executives through high quality briefings, papers, coordination and general executive support for internal and external governance forums.
* Contribute to the development, review and implementation of Treasury policies, frameworks and processes that support the safe and responsible adoption of artificial intelligence.
* Liaise with other Australian Government departments and monitor whole of government and external developments in AI governance to inform advice and forward planning.
* Exercise sound judgement, professionalism and discretion when managing sensitive governance, policy and risk matters in a complex and evolving environment.
* Other duties as directed by the Director, Strategy, Architecture, Projects and Engagement (SAPE).
Desirable Skills / Experience
* A minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in governance, policy, risk and secretariat roles within a complex ICT environment.
* A minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience in digital, data, technology or artificial intelligence related policy or governance in a public sector or comparable environment.
* Strong written communication skills, including experience preparing agendas, minutes, briefs and papers for senior executives.
* Ability to analyse complex or emerging issues and provide clear, practical advice to support decision making.
* Well-developed stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across organisational and functional boundaries.
* Ability to manage competing priorities, work with limited direction and deliver high quality outcomes to agreed timeframes.
