Lead a Multidisciplinary Building Consultancy
An established and growing consultancy is seeking an experienced Building Surveyor / Manager to lead and oversee operations across building surveying, performance solutions, and access consulting services.
This is a senior leadership role suited to a practitioner ready to take responsibility for business performance, team leadership, and strategic direction, while maintaining strong technical oversight.
Our practice delivers compliance advice and certification services across residential and commercial projects, including regulatory approvals, performance‐based solutions under the National Construction Code, and specialist access consulting. We are focused on technical excellence, responsiveness, and maintaining strong professional relationships with clients and stakeholders.
The Role
This position combines technical leadership with operational and business management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Overseeing all building surveying, performance solution, and access consulting services
* Managing and mentoring professional staff (primarily remote team members)
* Ensuring regulatory compliance and high‐quality technical output
* Monitoring workflow, productivity, and financial performance
* Maintaining strong client relationships and service standards
* Reviewing and endorsing reports, permits, and compliance documentation
* Driving continuous improvement in systems, processes, and service delivery
* Supporting business growth and strategic development initiatives
About You
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
* Registration as a Building Surveyor (Victoria)
* Significant experience in building surveying and regulatory compliance
* Strong working knowledge of the NCC, relevant legislation, and Australian Standards
* Experience with performance-based solutions and/or access compliance (highly regarded)
* Proven leadership and team management capability
* Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage business performance
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* A proactive, solutions‐focused approach
You will be confident in leading a remote team while maintaining accountability, culture, and performance expectations.
