We're working with a specialist engineering solutions business seeking an experienced Technical Manager to provide technical leadership across complex projects in Australia and New Zealand.
This is a senior technical role sitting at the intersection of engineering, construction, commercial strategy and project delivery. It will suit someone who can bring strong engineering judgement, practical site understanding and the ability to translate technical complexity into commercially sound, deliverable solutions.
The role will support a broad mix of infrastructure, commercial, industrial, non-residential and high-value residential projects, with a strong focus on pre-award technical input, project scoping, constructability, risk assessment, methodology development, technical submissions and post-project performance review.
The Role
* Provide technical leadership across complex ground engineering, remedial, civil and structural-related projects.
* Support business development and sales teams in client meetings, technical discussions and early-stage solution development.
* Review drawings, site information, geotechnical data, structural information and other project inputs.
* Help define project scope, assumptions, exclusions, constraints and technical requirements.
* Undertake design, methodology and constructability reviews.
* Provide value engineering input to improve project outcomes and commercial viability.
* Support estimates, tenders, proposals and technical submissions.
* Identify key technical, commercial and delivery risks.
* Assist with technical responses to client, consultant and internal queries.
* Support smooth technical handovers from bid stage to delivery teams.
* Review completed projects to compare actual outcomes against tender assumptions, production rates, methodology and design intent.
* Capture lessons learned and convert project knowledge into practical benchmarks, tools, training material and technical guidance.
* Develop and deliver technical training for sales, business development, operations and project teams.
* Contribute to internal technical knowledge-sharing, innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
* A degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Structural or Environmental Engineering.
* Practical experience in civil, geotechnical, structural, remedial, construction or ground engineering environments.
* Strong understanding of project scoping, design review, constructability, methodology development and technical risk assessment.
* The ability to interpret drawings, site data, ground investigation reports, monitoring results and construction records.
* Experience supporting estimates, tenders, proposals or technical submissions.
* Strong analytical ability and sound engineering judgement.
* Commercial awareness — particularly how technical decisions affect scope, cost, risk, programme and delivery outcomes.
* The ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly to clients, consultants, commercial teams and operational teams.
* A practical, accountable style and comfort working across both office and site environments.
* A willingness to travel to project sites, client meetings and regional offices as required.
