**Therapeutic Specialist Role Overview**

This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people living in residential care. The Therapeutic Specialist will work closely with residential staff and external partners to provide a holistic, culturally informed therapeutic response.

The successful candidate will have strong clinical skills, including the ability to conduct thorough assessments and develop tailored support plans for each young person. They will also have excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

**Key Responsibilities**

* Develop and deliver comprehensive assessments of young people's current presentation, including their developmental, mental health, and trauma experiences.
* Translate assessment findings into actionable guidance for residential care staff, ensuring that each young person receives personalized support.
* Provide ongoing support and coaching to residential care staff, helping them to build their confidence and competence in providing high-quality care.
* Work collaboratively with residential care and other teams to ensure that each young person's needs are met, and their well-being is prioritized.

**Requirements**

* Strong clinical knowledge and experience working with young people, adolescents, and families, particularly in relation to developmental trauma.
* Sound understanding of the complexities of family violence and service systems, with the ability to navigate these dynamics effectively.
* Minimum 2 years' experience conducting trauma-informed clinical work with children and young people, ideally within an Out-of-Home Care or Child Protective Services context.
* Bachelor degree level or higher qualification in a relevant field such as occupational therapy, psychology, social work, family therapy, or related discipline.
