About the program
The Carer Recruitment Volunteer will be supporting our Carer Recruitment and Development (CR&D) Team in the Loddon or Wimmera South West region with spreading the word of our Foster Care programs.
The Carer Recruitment and Development team is responsible for the recruitment, training, assessment, development and retention of all foster carers within MacKillop Family Services.
Possible tasks
Volunteer responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Delivering information and distributing promotional material to local businesses and households including letterbox drop offs.
Speaking with interested community members about what MacKillop does and about the benefits of becoming a Foster Carer.
Supporting the CR&D team in the Bendigo or Warrnambool regions with organising, setting up for and attendance at local events.
This may include placing items in envelopes or showbags, preparing handouts, setting up marquees, tables etc on the MacKillop event site, attendance on the MacKillop site during events, engaging with the community.
Key selection criteria
Understanding of and commitment to the values of MacKillop Family Services.
A passion for the work MacKillop does and a motivation for supporting our cause.
An open mind and the ability to adjust communication style to different audiences.
Communication skills.
Ability to work autonomously.
An appreciation for walking several kilometres at a time through different neighbourhoods.

Time Required
One day a month can be weekdays or weekend.
This is very flexible depending on your availability.
Initially training and onboarding will also take time.
Training
There will be three hours of online learning in your own time.
You will learn about Child Safety, about MacKillop and about trauma and how it can affect our behaviours.
You will also be trained by the Case workers on specific skills and knowledge you will need to stay safe while volunteering in this program.
