The Role
Murtec Services is seeking a motivated Refrigeration & Electrical Technician to join the growing team in Hobart. The role includes refrigeration and air conditioning service work, VRF and control wiring, fault finding, and commissioning on commercial and light industrial sites. It suits both experienced tradespeople and developing technicians wanting one-on-one training and a clear development pathway.
Initial employment is casual for the first 3 months (probation period), with $45–$55/hr depending on experience, plus casual loading, with the potential to move into a full-time position after probation.
What You'll Do
* Service, install, and maintain commercial air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
* Work on HVAC control wiring, VRF systems, fans, and pumps across commercial sites.
* Assist with fault-finding on electrical and refrigeration systems.
* Support a mix of commercial, domestic, and industrial projects as required.

What You'll Bring
* Electrical trade qualification (or working towards one 3/4th year apprentices).
* Current Driver's Licence and White Card.
* Refrigeration Handling Licence (preferred, not essential).
* Good attitude, clear communication, and commitment to safe work practices.
What We Offer
* $45–$55 per hour (experience-based) + casual loading during the 3‑month probation.
* 9‑day fortnight (36‑hour week) for full-time roles.
* Company van and phone allowance.
* Option to complete Cert II or III in Refrigeration or Mechanical Services Plumbing, supporting a dual-trade pathway.
* One-on-one training, ongoing development, and exposure to varied commercial systems.
* Supportive local team with long-term work in southern Tasmania.
